Basic Potential Rotary Leader Seminar (PRLS)

Are you a Potential Rotary Leader? Some people think that leadership is a trait you are born with while others believe that you acquire the skills through training and practice.

The Potential Rotary Leader Seminar (PRLS) is a one day training program where you will learn basic leadership theory that you can directly apply to your personal, work and community lives. The aim of PRLS is to develop leaders within and beyond Rotary and to instill key attributes to potential leaders who will grow Rotary.

PRLS has run in the United States for ten years with successful outcomes. Their studies have shown that clubs with the most PRLS graduates are those who led the district in all categories of excellence: membership growth, Foundation giving, initiation of new projects, availability of future leaders; attendance at Assembly and Conference.

The program is presented in two forms, viz:

  • The Basic PRLS - a one day seminar that introduces basic concepts of leadership, communicationa and management.
  • The Master PRLS - a more advanced one day seminar that deals with a specific topic in greater depth. Attendance at a Basic PRLS is a pre-requisitive to undertake one of the Master PRLS sessions.  More details on the Master PRLS program are set out on a separate page on this website.

In 2007-08, District 9810 has already run two Basic Potential Rotary Leader Seminars (PRLS) at the Mulgrave Country Club, 345 Jells Road, Wheelers Hill on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March 2008.  The next Basic PRLS will be conducted on Sunday 10th August and nominations are now open.  If you are interested in applying, please email Ron Brooks, PRLS Co-ordinator whose contact details are lower down this page.
